I am MD of The Escape, a hampshire based web design agency. I also consult independently for small businesses looking to maximise their online presence and deliver results through the web and e-marketing.
You could ask why I do this when I have a grown up job and the answer is simple: I love small businesses.
As well as starting my own small business from scratch, learning the skill of generating cash-flow and keeping the Profit and Loss Sheet looking healthy, I have invested a lot of time into understanding the web. Ten years later, The Escape employs 15 people and has a turnover of £1.2m, producing design solutions for web and traditional media. I have developed a knowledge of web marketing with a sense of business awareness tha can be applied to most business models.
This relatively new media is fast-moving and getting to understand the behaviour of web users is fascinating. I have created e-commerce sites from scratch, developed business-to-business websites that attract traffic and deliver sales leads.
Is my web consultancy expensive? Well, that's relative to the value it produces. I also charge on scale depending on the size of your business. At the end of the day it's about your return on investment. I always like to think you will get your money back within 6-12 months.
