Local SEO in Basingstoke
One of the services I offer is an SEO service for Basingstoke small business websites. This means, I will work hard to make sure your website says what it is that you do, which in turn, should boost your website in search engines. By taking time to understand your service offering (or product), we can deliver a website that connects with your audience.
I do know my stuff when it comes to search engine optimisation (I’ve even written a book about it). The SEO service offering breaks down into the following bite-size pieces…
1. Understand what you want your website to achieve
If you could have your website deliver anything, what would it be? How much money would you pay to make that happen? It’s important to set expectations at the beginning of an SEO project. You can get real results from your website (new business leads, enquiries, etc.) but they need to be realistic compared to your budget and the competitive nature of your market. This will allow me to focus on what can be achieved.
2. Keyword Research
I say ‘keyword’ but it’s more likely to be ‘key phrases’. Generally, people search more specifically on the web these days, simply due to the number of websites there are and the results they get – people have become better at finding what THEY want. It’s important to understand how your website can compete in a search engine, and, with the right focus on key phrases worth competing for – phrases that we know people use – we can ensure that your website delivers relevant traffic to your website very cost-effectively.
3. Optimise Content
We then optimise the content on your website. This includes the words on the page, as well as the meta content (the stuff you don’t see but is just as (if not more) important to the SEO of your website). These changes will make your web pages more relevant to the things people search for.
4. Talk To Search Engines
Next step is to tell Google all about your website and get them to talk back. This involves setting you up a Google account so you can get feedback on your site from the search engine itself. This includes Analytics (so you can see how many visitors and conversions your website is getting), local website submission and webmaster tools (including some techy stuff to do with sitemaps and robots).
5. Follow Up
Depending on how lively your website has been, it may take some time to get kick-started. This is especially so if it is a brand new website. That said, if it’s a Basingstoke-based company, I know a few directories and online marketing ideas that will help get your website get going.
After about 30-60 days, I will review the website and make any necessary tweaks.
How much does SEO cost?
The plain answer is “how much is a piece of string”, but I imagine you don’t want to hear that.
So, to give you an idea (and I will determine the cost on your business), the base price for a small business is around £200 to set up, then approx £20 per page.
So, if your website has 10 pages, and you want it all optimised, the cost would be approx. £400. This should give you a good idea (and I am flexible). But…
I am picky about the projects I work on and it’s not based on how big your business is:
- I am fortunate enough that I am good at SEO, but it’s not how I make a living.
- I am keen to help businesses in Basingstoke reach their audience.
Because of the above two points, I only work on projects where I think the person at the other end will value what’s been done and make the most of it.
